Thrashin’ is clearly trying to bottle mid-’80s skate culture into a scrappy underdog romance, with gang rivalry and a big downhill showdown as the hook. The problem is the story is basically a paint-by-numbers Romeo-and-Juliet riff, and when it leans into melodrama the writing can feel thin and a bit unintentionally cheesy. If you’re here for sharp character work, fresh plotting, or genuinely tense action, you’ll likely find it repetitive and more pose than punch.
