The vibe is sleazy Chicago mobster menace crossed with righteous-vigilante momentum, the kind of movie that moves on blunt confidence rather than subtlety. Raw Deal is trying to be a gritty undercover mob thriller with Schwarzenegger playing a disgraced lawman pulled back in for a personal, off-the-books takedown, and on paper that’s a solid ’80s setup. The problem is the script is clunky and often nonsensical, the undercover angle never feels remotely believable (yes, the accent doesn’t help), and the pacing lurches between slow setup and sudden bursts of mayhem. If you want a smart crime story with tension and character work, this will feel like a noisy, predictable slog that mistakes body count for suspense.
