Eliminators (1986)

Eliminators is the kind of gloriously scrappy ’80s sci-fi action movie that plays like a kid dumping every favorite toy onto the floor—cyborgs, time-travel weirdness, jungle-river adventure, and just enough martial-arts swagger to keep the pulse up. Peter Manoogian keeps the tone breezy and inventive, letting the film’s pulp energy do the heavy lifting while a surprisingly likable team—anchored by Denise Crosby’s can-do scientist and a charmingly game Andrew Prine—makes the mayhem feel companionable instead of disposable. It’s not polished or profound, but it is cheerfully committed to its own comic-book logic, with set pieces that feel handmade in the best way and a vibe that’s more Saturday-afternoon fun than grim dystopia. If you can meet it where it lives—somewhere between B-movie bravado and wide-eyed imagination—you’ll find a movie that’s easy to enjoy and hard not to root for.
