Legend (1985)

The real showstopper is Tim Curry’s Lord of Darkness, a towering, hypnotic creation made unforgettable by Rob Bottin’s makeup and Curry’s velvet menace, turning every scene into a gothic pageant. If you want a modern, lore-heavy fantasy, this may feel slender and stylized—but if you’re in the mood for visual storytelling at its most mythic and mesmerizing, Legend is absolutely worth the trip.

Legend is Ridley Scott trying to deliver a pure, old-school fairy tale: simple good-versus-evil, dreamy forests, unicorns, and a straight-line quest wrapped in lavish imagery. The catch is that the story and character work are thin, so if you need sharp dialogue, emotional depth, or coherent myth-building, it can feel like a gorgeous music video that never quite becomes a gripping movie.
