The Flight of Dragons (1982)

The Flight of Dragons is that rare family fantasy that trusts its audience’s intelligence, spinning a richly imaginative adventure where wonder and reason don’t just coexist—they spar, flirt, and ultimately illuminate each other. With John Ritter’s earnest charm at the center and a terrific voice cast giving the wizards and dragons real personality, the film feels like a fireside story told with wit, warmth, and surprisingly thoughtful dialogue. The Flight of Dragons is clearly trying to be a smart, kid-friendly fantasy that pits wonder against reason, with a genuinely fun hook in its science-meets-magic hero and a few memorable voice performances (John Ritter especially).
