Fallen Angel is the kind of TV drama that earns your attention by refusing to sensationalize what it depicts, treating its subject with a steady, clear-eyed seriousness that still feels bracing decades later. Robert Michael Lewis directs with a sober restraint, letting the tension come from everyday details and the slow tightening of a trap, while Melinda Dillon and Dana Hill bring a piercing authenticity to a mother and daughter already fractured by grief.
