The problem is it’s an uneven ride: the plotting can feel messy and occasionally ridiculous, and the acting swings from effective to downright campy in ways that may pull you out of the mystery. It’s also not “tasteful” horror—there’s harsh violence involving a child and some nasty, exploitative edges—so if you’re sensitive to that, this is an easy skip.
