Sergio Garrone keeps the mood sun-baked and suspicious, where every handshake feels like a setup and justice is always one step behind the truth. George Eastman brings a raw, physical intensity to the doctor-turned-avenger, and the film’s best trick is how it lets doubt seep into the spaces between gunshots, making you question what you think you know without ever tipping its hand. If you’re looking for a polished Hollywood western, this isn’t it—but if you want a gritty, morally thorny ride with a pulpy heart and a sharp edge, it’s an easy one to recommend.

Vendetta at Dawn is clearly aiming for that classic spaghetti-western cocktail of family tragedy, mistaken suspects, and a grim revenge march, and on paper it’s a solid setup. The problem is the execution can feel routine: the pacing sags between bursts of violence, the character work is thin, and the “wrong trail” angle doesn’t always land with the tension it’s supposed to.
