It isn’t for viewers who demand strict historical accuracy or a totally straight-faced tone, but if you want entertaining, old-school martial arts cinema with style and swagger, it’s an easy recommendation.

Four Riders wants to be a gritty, post–Korean War justice tale where four elite fighters take on corruption and a vicious gang, and the basic setup has the right pulp energy. The problem is the “period” part often doesn’t land: costumes, props, and locations feel stubbornly 1970s, which can pull you out of the story if you care about historical texture. Add in goofy sound effects, some shaky action staging, and a plot that coasts without much suspense, and it becomes more of a rough curio than a gripping crime drama.
