Danger Within (1959)

Danger Within wants to be a tense, claustrophobic POW whodunit, mixing escape-movie mechanics with paranoia about a traitor in the ranks. The problem is that the suspense often plays oddly muted when it should be tightening the screws, and the story tends to move where you expect rather than surprising you. Several characters feel more like familiar types than fully lived-in people, with the Italian villain especially coming off as a one-note sadist, leaving the cast to do the heavy lifting with presence rather than depth.
