Leave Her to Heaven is the rare classic that looks like a romantic dream in blazing Technicolor even as it tightens, scene by scene, into something far more dangerous. John M. Stahl stages the story with a glossy, sunlit elegance that makes the emotional darkness feel even more shocking, and Gene Tierney delivers a performance of such poised, poisonous magnetism you can’t look away.
