Lisa Kron (born Elizabeth S. Kron, 20 May 1961 in Ann Arbor, Michigan) – American actress and playwright, raised in Lansing, Michigan, in a household where her father was a Holocaust survivor and her mother was a community activist. She graduated valedictorian from Everett High School in 1979 and studied theatre at Kalamazoo College before moving to New York City in 1984. She is best known for writing the book and lyrics for Fun Home (2015), for which she won two Tony Awards (Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical), and the show won Best Musical. Other major works include Well (2004, Tony-nominated for Best Actress in a Play when she starred in it), 2.5 Minute Ride (Obie Award winner), and In the Wake (2014, Guggenheim Fellowship and Obie Award). She is a founding member of the OBIE- and Bessie-Award-winning theater company The Five Lesbian Brothers. Her acting credits include Sex and the City (2001), Deception (2008), Stay (2015), and Only Murders in the Building (2023) as a casting director. She teaches playwriting part-time at Yale University and New York University, and is married to playwright Madeleine George.
